How you got inspired to create this scape?
Bueno, tomé la inspiración de unas imágenes de paisajes que encontré por internet. Normalmente antes de empezar mi diseño, miro fotografías o imágenes de paisajes para encontrar algo interesante a seguir.
Well I got my inspiration from a scenery pictures that I search from the internet. Normally before I start my scape, I will look at scenery photographs or pictures to find something interesting to follow.

¿Qué te motivó para ponerle el nombre al acuario?
Why did you choose this name? what was the purpose?
Francamente soy malo con los nombres que se me ocurren, en este caso mis amigos de “Little Green Corner” me ayudaron.
Hace referencia al buen recuerdo que tenemos de la selva al adentrarnos en ella cuando todavía somos niños.
Well quick frankly, I’m bad with coming out names, this one my friends from Little Green Corner came out for me. It’s actually meant good memories of how jungle looks like when we venture into it when we are still a child.

¿En que orden escogiste los elementos de este acuario.
In which order you choose the elements of this aquarium.
Intento escoger los elementos principales primero, tales como piedras y troncos. Solo una vez el hardscape esta terminado escojo las plantas.
For me, I will try to choose the main elements first which is the wood and stones. Only once the hardscape has been determine then only I will choose the plants.
¿De donde has obtenido los materiales para el hardscape?
Where did you get the materials for the hardscape?
Normalmente compro los materiales en las tiendas locales.
Well I normally buy the materials from our local fish shops.



¿Que técnicas para distribuir y fijar los sólidos has usado?
Which techniques you used for to make the distribution and fixation of every kind of solids?
No uso técnicas especiales, simplemente fijo a presión las piedras o los troncos en el sustrato. A veces uso algunas piedras pequeñas como soporte para hacer que el tronco o piedra permanezcan derechos.
No special techniques, I just fix the push in the wood or stone into the soil. Sometimes I just use some small stones as a support to make the wood or stone stand straight.

¿Has realizado algún tipo de esbozo o dibujo previo al montaje?
Have you prepared any kind of draft or drawing previous to set-up?
Si realizo varios bocetos antes del montaje, y siempre después de montar realizo alguno más para ver otras posibilidades.
Yes I do have some sketches previous to set up, and even after set up I will still sketches to try to see other possibilities.




¿Para hacer la distribución de los sólidos y las plantas has seguido algún tipo de proporción estudiada previamente o simplemente has improvisado sobre la marcha i/o seguido tu intuición.?
To arrange the distribution of solids and plants, are you following any kind of previously studied proportion or simply you improvised as you work on the scape or followed your intuition?
Sí, me gusta seguir ciertas proporciones, como la proporción áurea, así que hago algunos cálculos y pongo cinta adhesiva en el cristal delantero, luego pongo los materiales acorde con eso.
Yes I do follow certain proportions, like the golden ratio so I do some calculations and put masking tape on the front glass, then I will put the divide the materials accordingly


¿Como vas incorporando los nutrientes durante las primeras semanas del montaje?
How do you add nutrients in the first weeks of set-up?
En las 2 primeras semanas no añado ningún nutriente em el agua. Solo a partir de entonces empiezo a dosificar nutrientes(KNO3) y cuando las plantas empiezan a crecer o tienen nuevas hojas adito hierro.
Well in the 2 weeks I don’t put any nutrients into the water. Only after that, I start to dose nutrients (KNO3) and when they start to grow or new leaves then dose some Iron.

¿Con que parametros de agua te sientes cómodo?
With wich parameters of water do you like to work?
Actualmente no mido los parametros del agua, no soy muy bueno con estos nombres cientificos. Simplemente abono siguiendo las intrucciones.
Actually I don’t really measure the parameters of the water anymore and I’m not very good at this scientific names. So I just dosed fertz according to the guide.

¿Que cantidad de luz y de que manera la incorporas al acuario? Que color de luz es el que usas?
How and how much light you put on the aquarium? What colour light do you use?
Usé 55w x 4 Pl color blanco para este acuario.
I use 55watts x 4 white PL lights for this tank.

¿En que te has basado para escoger la fauna de este acuario?
Why you choose this fauna for this set-up?
Bien, yo quería algún pez que destacara dentro del acuario, pero tampoco demasiado, también que fuera un pez que nadara en cardumen.
Well I wanted some fish that can stand out from the tank, but not too much and also that can shoals together.

¿Has tenido aparición de algas en algún momento? A qué lo atribuyes? De que manera las has combatido?
Did you get any algae in any moment? Why you think it happened? How did you eliminate it?
Por supuesto, las algas son parte del paisajismo. He tenido verde punto en el cristal y en las piedras que están sobre la arena blanca. También he tenido BGA de vez en cuando en la arena blanca. Lo que hago es retirar todas estas algas y realizar más cambios de agua. También intento que las plantas crezcan bien para que puedan competir por los nutrientes con las algas
Well of course, algae are part of the aquascaping. I get a lot of green spot on the glass and rocks on the white sands. I also get BGA from time to time on the white sands. So what I do is stuck or scrap off those algae and do more water change. I also make sure plants are growing well so that they can compete with the algae for nutrients

¿Tienes alguna preferencia en cuanto a realizar la primera poda?
Do you have any preference for the first “pruning”?
No. No tengo ninguna preferencia en la primera poda, normalmente dejo que crezca tanto como sea posible, pero si algunas plantas que crecen más rápido se ven mal respecto las demás, realizo la poda en esa primera planta en particular.
Para este particular paisaje, había algunas plantas nuevas para mí como la limnophilia sp Vietnam de la que solo tenía 10 tallos, por lo que una vez crecidas las cortaba y las replantaba de nuevo. Repetí el proceso hasta que se espesaron.
Nope I don’t have any preference on the first pruning, but normally I will let it grow as much as possible, but if some plants get to messy for grow faster than the others I will do pruning on that particular plant first.
For this particular scape, I had some new plants which is the limnophilia sp.vietnam which I only have about 10stems, so once they grow tall I will trim and plant back. I repeated the process until they are bushy.

¿En algún momento del montaje has movido parte de los sólidos porqué no te convencían?
In any moment in the initial steps you moved the solids as you were not convinced with the result?
Bien, realicé muchos movimientos en el hardscape, cambié troncos y las posiciones un par de veces intentando sacar el mejor resultado.
Normalmente mis primeros montajes y los resultados finales lucen muy distintos. Eso es un mal hábito mío y es por culpa de que todavía no soy muy bueno determinando los "hardscapes", por eso algunas veces no consigo realizarlos a la primera.
Well I do move a lot of the hardscapes, I have change the woods and the position couple of times and trying to get the most of it. For me usually the initial setup and the final scapes looks very different. Its kind of a bad habit of mine, but its also because I’m not still very good at determine the hardscapes and of course sometimes we just unable to get all the hardscapes all at once.

¿Has seguido un seguimiento fotográfico durante todo el montaje? ¿Te ayuda la fotografía a visualizar mejor el desarrollo del acuario?
Have you done a regular photo-follow-up of the set-up? Photography helps you to have a clearer image of the development of the aquarium?
Sí, me gusta tomar fotos regulares del tanque, ya que me ayudan a ver dónde mejorar.
Normalmente vemos el acuario a diferentes alturas y perspectivas por lo que nos puede gustar, pero una foto tomada directamente en el centro visual del acuario nos revela lo que los demás verán, y nos ayuda a poder ajustarlo en consecuencia.
Yes I do take regular pictures of the tank as it will tell me where to improve, cause sometimes we actually seeing the tank in different height and perspective so you may like it, but a photo is taken directly at the center view of the tank, so it can tell you what others will see and not, so then I can adjust accordingly.




¿Que material fotográfico y técnicas has usado para la foto final?
What kind of photographic material and technique you used for the finish picture?
Para esta foto usé solo 1 flash externo en la parte superior del acuario y algunas luces normales en la parte trasera. No planifiqué la distribución de la luz.
For this picture, I used only 1 external flash on top of the tank and some normal lights on the back of the tank. I did not plan for the light distribution.

¿Has retirado o añadido algún pez para la foto final?
Have you added or removed any fish for the final picture?
Si, retiré la mayor cantidad de otocinclus que me fue posible ya que les gusta estar en el cristal frontal.
Yeah I actually did, I removed as many Otocinclus as possible as they like to stick on the front glass.


¿Una vez finalizado el paisaje y después de la foto final, que aspectos crees que pueden ser mejorables?
Once you finished the scape and after the final picture, what do you think could be improved on the set-up?
Creo que muchas cosas. Normalmente no estoy satisfecho y busco maneras de mejorar, quizás podría haber usado mejores piedras o troncos. Pero solo tenemos un tiempo limitado, por lo que intento hacerlo lo mejor que puedo cada vez.
A lot, I will always not satisfied and find ways to improve, maybe I can use a better wood or rocks. But we only have certain limit of time, so I just do the best I can at that time.



¿En algún momento has retocado fotografías con fotoshop? Piensas que debería ser aceptable el retoque en los concursos? Que límites pondrias?
Have you used any kind of Photoshop for this scape? Do you think image edition should be acceptable in the contests? Which limits would you fix for this, if any?
Solo ajusté la exposición de la foto. Creo que ajustar la exposición esta bien, pero no se deben añadir peces, plantas o limpiar manchas de la foto.
Well I only adjust the exposure of the picture. Well I think adjusting exposure should be alright, but not doing touch up like adding fish, plants, cleaning spots on the picture.
