How you got inspired to create this scape?
Como los singapurenses vivimos en una pequeña isla, no tenemos muchos lugares donde inspirarnos, así que la mayor parte de las ideas vienen de Internet. Hay muchas fotos hermosas de naturaleza que se pueden convertir en paisajismo. Para este particular paisaje, tomé la idea del Aquajournal.
For Singaporean where we stay in tiny island, our country lack of nature beauty. So most of the idea come from Internet. There are many beautiful nature photo that can be converted into aquascaping. For this particular scape, I have the idea from Aquajournal.





¿En que orden escogiste los elementos de este acuario? (troncos, piedras, plantas…)
In which order you choose the elements of this aquarium? (wood drift, stones, plants…)
En primer lugar las rocas para el hardscape. Creo que el hardscape es la parte más importante porque una vez está sumergido en agua es muy difícil de cambiar. Primero coloqué las piedras, algunas con doble función: para la decoración y para evitar que la tierra se deslice. Tomé algunos días o incluso semanas para realizar esto, sobre todo por la disponibilidad de material ya que encontrar buenas piedras y troncos es muy raro en Singapur. A parte me suelo dar un período de enfriamiento. Lo que quiero decir es que no me gusta realizar el hardscape rápidamente y plantar al mismo tiempo. Me suelo dar uno o dos días para tener una sensación del hardscape y ver si se puede mejorar o no.
Una vez que las rocas y el sustrato tenían buena distribución, seguí con los troncos. Una vez más, es difícil conseguir buen material y este proceso tomó unos días más. Empecé a plantar cuando estuve satisfecho con el hardscape. La selección de plantas no es un gran problema porque siempre se pueden retirar y plantar nuevas especies.
First would be rocks hardscape. I believe hardscape is the most important part because once water in it is very difficult to change. First I will arrange the rock, some rock have dual function, for decoration as well as to prevent soil from sliding. It took couple of days or even weeks to do this, mostly because the availability of material. Nice rocks and wood are pretty rare in Singapore. Also normally I give my self a cool down period. What I mean is I do not want to quickly setup hardscape and plant at the same time. I will give my self one or two days to have a feeling of the hardscape, see whether it can be improve or not.
Once rocks and substrate arrangement done, I continue with wood arrangement. Again it is hard to get nice wood and this process will take another few days. I start planting only when I’m satisfied with the hardscape. Plants selection isn’t very much a problem because I can just plug it off and plant new species.

¿Qué te motivó para ponerle el nombre al acuario?
Why did you choose this name? what was the purpose?
Para mí, el nombre es tan sólo una manera de identificar mi trabajo. Es más fácil decir "brisa de verano" en lugar de "mi tanque de 3 pies del 2009" cuando se quiere hablar con un amigo.
En cuanto a lo de escoger este nombre "Summer Breeze" (Brisa de Verano), "Verano" representa el sentimiento luminoso del paisaje, especialmente en el lado izquierdo.
Además, se suele visitar la playa durante el verano.
"Brisa" es para representar el movimiento ondulante del helecho de Java narrow, cuando es acariciada por el flujo de agua del filtro.
For me, name is just a way to call my work. It is easier to say “summer breeze” rather than “my 2009 3ft tank setup” when you want to discuss it with friend.
As for why I name it “Summer Breeze”, “Summer” is to represent the bright feeling of the scape, especially on the left hand side of the scape. Also you normally visit beach during summer. “Breeze” is to represent the waving movement of narrow leaf java fern when it was blown by filter flow.
